So, last week Soph sailed through “Event Four” for Ten for Tender; this was the Orion Harriers Forest Five; a five mile race in Epping Forest in 43 mins. Hilly but lovely run and very grateful for the shade of the trees.
But Sunday 21st July was the Scary 12.2 miles “Self Navigation” run through the countryside of North Herfordshire – the demon of all the runs so far. Each runner was to be given an OS map and route direction but there would be no marshals or arrows so she would have to concentrate really hard to go in the right direction without falling over. And all this in the middle of the hottest weather the UK has known for years!
But Sophie did it! no falling over and only a little bit of getting lost and in a total time of 2 hours 4 minutes which is extraordinarily brilliant.
Soph you’re amazing – your finish photo makes you look like you didn’t even break a sweat – Mrs 856. You’re half way there now, with number 6 being a 5K on 3rd August and number 7 being a 10k on 17th August. Onwards and upwards buddy – we’re coming together to end violence in relationships!
