Tender will deliver 10 Healthy Relationships projects, funded by the West Yorkshire Violence Reduction Partnership (VRP).
Experts in healthy relationships education, Tender uses drama and creative arts to empower young people with the skills to challenge harmful attitudes, recognise early signs of abuse and treat others with kindness and compassion.
Through two-day interactive workshops, Tender will guide secondary school students in West Yorkshire to understand the importance of equality, consent and respect, as well as equipping them with the tools to form healthy relationships.
Young people (16-24 year olds) are more likely experience domestic abuse than any other age group, (ONS, 2024). By funding these vital projects, the VRP will support the next generation to lead lives free of abuse and prevent future violence.
Angharad Turner-Fielder, Programme Manager for Tender North, said:
‘Tender are thrilled to partner with the West Yorkshire VRP for these much-needed projects.
‘Young people are growing up surrounded by violent and negative influences, but through specialist healthy relationships projects, we can give them the skills to challenge harmful attitudes and develop positive behaviours. This funding represents a significant step towards preventing domestic violence in West Yorkshire and beyond.’
West Yorkshire’s Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime Alison Lowe OBE said:
‘Our Violence Reduction Partnership is focused on putting prevention before cure, and this joint work to promote healthy relationships achieves exactly that.
‘If we are to halve violence against women and girls in the next decade, we must address the root causes, changing attitudes and behaviours that will ultimately save lives.
‘The fact that this comes during the 16 days of activism against gender-based violence underlines the continued need to educate our young people, offering them the right support.’
This announcement comes during the global campaign, 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence. Visit the Tender website to join Tender’s 2025 campaign and get involved via Instagram.
