To mark this important milestone, Tender hosted an inspiring evening to share insights and learnings from the work across the region.
Tender hosted a celebratory event at Candour Productions to highlight the learnings and impact of its work across West Yorkshire over the past seven years to prevent domestic abuse and sexual violence.
Attendees heard from Tender supporter and CEO of Candour Productions, Anna Hall, Tender’s CEO Susie McDonald MBE, and Programme Manager for the North region, Angharad Turner-Fielder, about Tender’s journey in West Yorkshire. Susie also drew on Tender’s national strategy for the next generation to outline plans to expand the reach of its prevention programmes in the area.

Local teachers joined the conversation and shared first-hand insights into how Tender’s programmes have positively impacted their school communities and improved their Ofsted reports.
Primary school Headteacher Zoe said:
‘It is absolutely crucial that healthy relationships education starts from the very beginning. Knowing yourself, what you like, what you don’t like, being able to communicate what you like, that has to start from a very young age. It is really important that we listen and don’t shut down even the most challenging conversations.’
A local Headteacher, Mohammed said:
‘Tender is not just changing lives, it genuinely is saving lives, it’s making a massive impact not just for the current generation but I can definitely see in our local setting it’s having a ripple effect’
A highlight of the event was a powerful rap performance about healthy relationships performed by local young people who developed it as part of a project. The also shared some of their learnings from the programme.
Anna Hall said:
‘I was incredibly inspired by the work of Tender. I really believe that helping young people to have proper, honest, safe conversations about healthy relationships is what we need to do as a society. I’m so thrilled with everything that we achieved in the last 7 years here’.
