Tender is all about healthy relationships and we want to bring these values to life on camera.
This Valentine’s Day, we’re giving primary (years 5 and 6) and secondary (years 7-11) school students the chance to get creative with a new photography competition!
From caring friendships to family celebrations, we want to showcase what #LoveLooksLike to children and young people today by collecting their own creative snapshots. We’re looking for unique images that celebrate love in all its shapes and sizes across friendship, family, joyous moments and smiles that last a lifetime.
Winners, runner-ups and a shortlist will be chosen by a judging panel including Tender CEO Susie McDonald, members of our Youth Board and a celebrity Tender Ambassador. Winners and runners-up will be invited to attend and receive a special award at the Tender Awards 2025. Shortlisted entrants will each receive £50 in theatre vouchers.
Winning and shortlisted images will be displayed across Tender’s website, social media and at special Tender events.
We’re asking schools and teachers to spread the word about our competition and, if possible, facilitate photography sessions to help as many children and young people take part as possible.
As a school, educator and/or staff member, you can support our competition by:
- Promoting the opportunity to staff and students.
- Helping students to take pictures for entry, encouraging creativity and positive values.
- Supporting students and parents to complete the required consent forms.
- Submitting entries on behalf of your school.

Susie McDonald MBE, CEO of Tender, said:
‘Joy. Excitement. Magic. Love brings so much to our lives which is why this Valentine’s Day we’re celebrating love in all its shapes and sizes.
‘From Sunday at your nan’s to football with your best friend, love comes in many forms and I’m so excited to see what #LoveLooksLike to children and young people today.
‘While it’s crucial to understand issues like violence and abuse, it’s equally important to see healthy relationships in action. Through these brilliant photos, we can showcase the magic of love this Valentine’s Day, so get snapping and show us what #LoveLooksLike to you!’
