Healthy Friendships

Embark on a transformative two-day journey with your pupils. Our expert facilitators will guide them through activities which support them to build healthy friendships, recognise harmful ones, and develop their confidence and presentation skills.

Our two-day Healthy Friendships project is suitable for one class of pupils from Year 5 or 6, and concludes by creating a performance or presentation to share key learnings with their peers.

What we will achieve

  • Identifying what makes a friendship healthy or unhealthy
  • Identifying safe and unsafe touch through the NSPCC Underwear Rule
  • Recognising children’s rights as developing human beings
  • Exploring how pressure and control might be used in friendships
  • Learning how to support a friend, and how to seek support if they feel unsafe.

What’s the benefit?

Children are protected and empowered

Our facilitators are experts in making relationships education safe, fun and relevant. Our projects prepare children for life without introducing them to age-inappropriate content.

Equality and diversity is celebrated

All children deserve respect and care. We work hard to break down stereotypes and inequalities, and dismantle harmful attitudes before they take root.

Safeguarding and support is prioritised

Every young person should have access to support. We ensure children can identify what good support looks like and who they can turn to in and out of school.

Short on time?

We understand the demands of a busy school schedule. Whilst usually delivered over two days, our Healthy Friendships project can also be delivered over one day, for one class of 25-30 pupils. This version of the project doesn’t include a sharing session for peers, but is a condensed dose of skills and knowledge building.

How we do it

Drama and the arts have long been recognised as powerful tools for engaging young people in social issues. During our Healthy Friendships projects, children meet and create characters, play with scripts, and share and listen to ideas. This helps them to rehearse friendships, learn from mistakes and discover boundaries in a supported and creative way.
